Manitowoc is host to this weekend’s Wisconsin American Legion Baseball 16 & under State Tournament. All games will be played at Municipal Field starting at 10:00 this morning and continuing through this evening. The schedule finds Beaver Dam meeting Onalaska in Game 1, followed in order by Seymour & Hudson at 1:00 o’clock, Jackson vs. Genoa City at 4:00 and then host Manitowoc facing DC Everest tonight at 7:00. Local team members come from Manitowoc Lincoln, Roncalli, Lutheran, Reedsville and Hilbert High Schools. The double-elimination tourney will run through Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Manitowoc Legion 17 and under team won its’ 6 team Regional in Sturgeon Bay last weekend and will start play late this afternoon at the State Tournament in Marshfield. Manitowoc is set to battle Racine at 4:30 in its’ opening game.
