Bail is set at $2000 cash for a 36-year-old Appleton man facing multiple charges in connection with a vehicle pursuit which eventually came to an end in Manitowoc. Christopher Ramirez is charged with knowingly fleeing an officer, recklessly endangering safety, operating while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation warrant. His passenger, 30-year-old Savannah Spencer of Manitowoc, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says that just before 2 a.m. this morning a Deputy attempted to stop Ramirez Within the 3500 block of Calumet Avenue. Ramirez fled westbound on Calumet to northbound I-43. A tire deflation device deflated the driver’s side tire however, Ramirez continued north on the Interstate, then east on County Highway V/Hillcrest Drive, then headed south on County Highway R. A second tire deflation device successfully punctured the remaining three tires, but it didn’t deter Ramirez as he headed back into Manitowoc. His vehicle eventually ended up in a ditch on County R North of Fleetwood Drive. Ramirez then fled on foot, only to be apprehended a short time later in the 1400 block of Lee Circle. K-9 Leon assisted in the apprehension. The Manitowoc Police Department and citizens provided information regarding Ramirez’s movements after he fled his vehicle. His passenger did not run from the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Conditions of Bail include that Ramirez not-operate a vehicle without a valid drivers license, have no contact with any drug dealers or users and maintain absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol. He remains in the County Jail with an initial court appearance scheduled for July 22nd at 1:30. There is no court date listed for Spencer.
The pursuit was approximately 16 miles and reached speeds of 115 mph.
