Engineers with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation admit there are serious problems with a 20-mile construction project in near Racine — it’s just not a design flaw. There have been 210 accidents in the work zone so far this year. Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling says the biggest problem is speeding drivers. A speeding crackdown, new warning signs and better lane markings may be the solution. The southern two-thirds of the project should be complete by the end of the year.
