Eric Thames hit a solo home run leading off the eighth inning, giving Milwaukee the winning run it needed to beat the Pirates 2-1 Sunday. That win coupled with a Chicago loss boosted the Brewers into a tie for first place in the National League Central Division standings. Jeremy Jeffress picked up the win in relief and Matt Albers claimed the save. The Brewers wrapped up a 10-game home stand with only five victories. Adrian Houser makes his fourth start of the season tonight (Monday) in Cincinnati, the first of a four-game series in the Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM, and you can hear the game on 1240AM WOMT.
Four of his teammates will join starting outfielder Christian Yelich on the National Roster for this month’s Major League All-Star Game. It will be played July 9th in Cleveland. Brewers who will join him at Progressive Field are catcher Yasmani Grandal, infielder Mike Moustakas and closer Josh Hader. Yelich — who leads the major leagues in home runs with 29, has accepted an invitation to participate in the Home Run Derby Monday, July 8th.
