The City of Manitowoc has invited the public to attend a special ceremony dedicating a portion of the current Dewey Street in the Harbor Town district as Crawford Boulevard (map attached).
The dedication ceremony is planned for tomorrow – Saturday, June 29th, 2019, at the corner of Harbor Town Lane and Dewey Street (what will be Crawford Blvd). The ceremony will begin at 12:00 noon. Parking will be available in the Mattress Firm parking lot.
This is in recognition of the City’s 26th and longest-consecutive serving Mayor to date, Kevin Crawford.
Mayor Crawford was first elected 30 years ago in April of 1989. He was re-elected 5 times in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2001, and 2005. He served until 2009 for a total of 20 years.
One of the accomplishments during Mayor Crawford’s tenure was the expansion of the Harbor Town district on the west side of the city toward the interstate. This road was chosen because of Mayor Crawford’s integral leadership in the creation of this area of the city and for his many years of service to the citizens of the City of Manitowoc.
