Manitowoc’s jobless rate increased slightly in May. Numbers released by the State Department of Workforce Development show the city checked in with an unemployment rate of three percent. That’s up from two-point-nine percent in April but down from May 2018’s number of three-point-three percent. Manitowoc County’s jobless rate remained unchanged from April’s number of two-point-seven percent and down slightly from last two-point-eight percent in May of 2018. The non-seasonally adjusted data for Wisconsin show that preliminary May 20219 rates declined or stayed the same in seven of the state’s twelve metro areas. Meanwhile-jobless numbers declined or remain unchanged over the last twelve months in 22 of the state’s 33 largest cities and 47 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.
