
Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc joined the Assembly passing the new budget. “I voted for the budget last night because we’ve, again, spent historic amounts, and increased a record amount a record of $650 million increase in our K-12 education,” Tittl explained. “Investing in our kids future is very important.” He also told us that they doubled the amount of money allocated to mental health services within the schools in an attempt to curb the trend of suicides in our communities.
He went on to explain that the “rainy day fund is at an all-time high of $616 million.” The University of Wisconsin Tuition freeze was also kept in plcae, helping students attending schools within the UW system.
A major part of the budget focused on transportation as well, with Tittl explaining that there is a 10% increase in transportation aids to local governments, as well as nearly tripling the local road improvement program.” Tittl went on to tell us that “This budget also funds our states healthcare needs, without expanding Medicaid.”
The budget bill now moves to the state Senate for a vote before heading to the governor’s desk.
