The WIAA Board of Control voted late last week to increase the maximum number of basketball games allowed in a regular season, from 22-to-24 at the varsity level only. The change will take place for boys and girls basketball, beginning with the 2020-’21 campaign. The other change by the board clarifies that individual participation limits are to be determined strictly by number-of-halves. The maximum number in which a student-athlete can compete during a season remains unchanged at 66. In other action by the Board of Control: the boys golf season in 2020 will be moved one week later to accommodate for the American Family Insurance Championship that’ll be held the traditional week of the State Boys Golf Tournament at University Ridge. The ‘new’ dates for the State meet next Spring will be June 15th and 16th.
