Manitowoc Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a call early this morning on a house fire on the city’s southside. Deputy Chief Karl Koch tells Seehafer News that crews received the call at about 3:30 am from 1026 South 17th street. Koch says it occurred in a wall on the lower level of the two-family structure. It was opened-up quickly and the blaze was extinguished within minutes. No one was hurt and all occupants were able to get out safely. Damage is described as minimal however the occupants are not being allowed back inside at this time and they are being assisted by the Red Cross to meet any immediate needs including housing. The cause of the fire is not deemed suspicious and remains under investigation.
