The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is celebrating World Giraffe Day today. During their World Giraffe Day event, visitors can enjoy a variety of free activities, including behind-the-scenes tours of the Giraffe Building, face painting, a bounce house, children’s games and crafts, giraffe-themed craft sales, and the chance to get up-close and personal with the resident giraffes, Hodari and Zuri, on their own special day. The event runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a portion of the proceeds going to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. Giraffes are classified as a vulnerable species, and estimates indicate that populations have declined by as much as 40 percent in the last 20 years, with fewer than 100,000 of them remaining in the wild.
