The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says Wednesday’s explosion and fire on Interstate 94 in Racine did damage to the roadway surface. Two truck drivers died in the crash. It took work crews about 15 hours to complete the repairs and make sure the road would be safe for morning commuters. They weren’t able to start until authorities had finished their investigation of the multi-car accident.
