Sheriff Dan Hartwig and Chief Tim Barber of the Cleveland Police Department have released information on a motor vehicle pursuit that took place on Tuesday, June 18 at 4:43 pm the Cleveland Police Department attempted to stop a 2000 Mercedez Benz on Westview Rd near Fischer Creek Rd in the Village of Cleveland for traffic violations. The vehicle continued traveling north on Westview Road, attempting to elude law enforcement. The Mercedez turned east on CTH F traveling at speeds in excess of 100mph. The vehicle crashed at the t-intersection of CTH F and CTH LS. Both occupants fled on foot and began running east toward Lake Michigan. Multiple officers from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Cleveland Police Department, Metro Drug Unit and Manitowoc Police Department responded to set up a perimeter on the suspects. Manitowoc County Sheriff K-9 “Leon” and Manitowoc Police K-9 “Neko” were called in and located both suspects. The operator of the vehicle, Peter Normal Jones of Racine, is being charged with obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating after revocation, and reckless driving. Jones will also be charged with escape as he was listed as a Huber walk-away from the Manitowoc County Jail. He was treated for minor injuries at Holy Family Hospital and turned over to the jail. The passenger, Ladaisha Mckinney of Manitowoc, was arrested on a charge of obstructing an officer. She received minor injuries from the crash and refused medical treatment. The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has said that no further information is being released at this time.
