Nat Werth, the valedictorian from Sheboygan Lutheran High School, has had a whirlwind past couple of weeks. First making headlines because administrators wouldn’t allow him to deliver a speech at his graduation due to him writing about his struggles as a gay student, Werth is now going to be attending Victory Institute Candidate and Campaign Training. The four-day training course is strictly for members of the LGBTQ community and trains them how to run for political office. Victory Fund Board Chair and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced Werth’s participation at the Milwaukee Pride event earlier this month, but also informed him that Abele would be paying all of his expenses. On top of the amazing opportunity to attend the training course, Werth will be attending the World Pride reception in New York City on June 27th and will march in the World Pride Parade on June 30th. All of this because he was denied a valedictory speech.
