He hasn’t said if he will use his partial veto powers to change the Joint Finance Committee’s budget plan, but Governor Tony Evers isn’t behind the idea of hiking car registration fees. Republicans on the committee dropped Evers’ plan to increase the state fuel tax. They countered with a 95-dollar increase in title fees and 10 dollars more for registering a car in Wisconsin. The governor says raising those fees — and not the gas tax — lets out-of-state drivers use Wisconsin roads for free.
