Sign-Up For Federal Dairy Margin Coverage Program Underway

The U-S-D-A’s Farm Service Agency says sign-up for the new Dairy Margin Coverage program will run until September 20th.  Monday was the first day.  The D-M-C replaces another federal program for farmers.  Dairy producers are protected when the difference between the all-milk price and the average feed cost falls below a certain dollar amount the dairy farmer selects.  Those producers can choose a coverage level between four dollars and 9-50-a-unit.
