The U-S-S Minneapolis-St. Paul has been christened and launched from a shipyard in Marinette. Several Minnesotans were in attendance as the U-S Navy’s newest littoral combat ship was dropped sideways into the water Saturday. Minnesota native and Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy Jodi J. Greene was the ship’s sponsor. Littoral combat ships are designed to be able to effectively conduct missions close to shore. The ship was built at the Marinette shipyard.
