Mount Pleasant police say an 18-year-old man who was shot to death early Saturday had ignored commands to drop his weapon. Police haven’t said what kind of weapon Tyrese West was holding. A police officer told investigators with the Racine Police Department he saw that West was armed during a foot chase. When the use of less-lethal force didn’t work and West wouldn’t put his weapon down, the officer fired. Life-saving measures failed at the scene, which was just a few blocks south of the Racine city limits.
