After sweeping the Pirates out of Milwaukee, the Brewers look to take a pair of games in Houston. The Astros are on a bit of a roll, winning 8 of their last 10 games, including taking 2 of 3 from the Orioles over the weekend. The Astros will be sending right-hander Brad Peacock to the mound to face off against the young Freddie Peralta, who has been hit or miss all year, but is coming off a strong performance last Thursday against the Marlins, where he pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, and striking out 9. First pitch from Minute Maid park is scheduled for 7:10 PM, with pregame coverage beginning on 1240 AM WOMT at 6:35.
If Christian Yelich is going to win his second straight National League Most Valuable Player award, he’s going to have to overcome some tough competition. Yelich and Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger are both on a pace to produce 10 wins-above-replacement campaigns. Yelich is hitting .340 and is on pace for 59 home runs and 130 runs batted in. Bellinger is hitting .355 and is on pace for 49 home runs and 133 R-B-Is. Sabermetrics give Bellinger the edge so far, but the season still has 96 games left for both players.
