The President and CEO of Holy Family Memorial has written an Open Letter to the Community apologizing for some of the problems they had with billing when they “went live” in 2017. Brett Norell tells SeehaferNews.com it arose from the rollout of their electronic health records system 2 years ago in April. He explained that “billing is very complicated in healthcare, and we are dealing with insurance companies and trying to get bills to them. Our system, when we went live, had some issues and delayed bills and some were incorrect. We apologize for that.” Norell advises if anyone has billing questions to call 320-2591 and a billing specialist will assist you.
HFM currently has around 900 employees which is a reduction from about a thousand several years ago. Norell expressed regret for the need in reduction of staff, but attributed it to a decline in volume, which made the leadership at HFM take a look at the employee numbers versus the volume and had to make some cuts. Norell put it simply, it was either keep the staff and lose money, to the detriment of the business as a whole, or cut a few positions, and have the business continue to thrive. If the business goes under, everyone loses their job.
Norell was asked about rumors that a merger may be in the works for Holy Family Memorial. He put it bluntly, “A merger is not in the cards for us.”
The HFM president and CEO said they focus on four areas: patient experience, quality care, growth and the culture inside the organization. Norell said he believes those are the core elements of providing community healthcare.
