One of two defendants taken into custody last week on a count of conspiracy to distribute Methamphetamine, waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Manitowoc County Circuit Court. Porfirio Mejia-Neri pled “not guilty”, while Brayan Pacheco-Bernal has yet to be officially charged. Several law enforcement agencies- including Manitowoc Metro Drug Unit Investigators were involved in the nearly six-week operation which netted nearly 19 pounds of methamphetamine through a series of controlled buys in Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties and a raid of two residences in Sheboygan. Investigators determined that the two defendants brought approximately 36 pounds of meth to Wisconsin that had an estimated street value of $1.3 Million. Mejia-Neri remains in the Manitowoc County Jail in lieu of $350,000 cash bail and is due back in court September third. Pacheco-Bernal is also in the County Jail on $500,000 cash bail.
