The post-season run came to an end last night for both Valders and Denmark Boys High School Baseball teams. Both lost in the Regional finals 5-0. In the D-3 matchup at Valders the Vikings were defeated by Sturgeon Bay, with the home team held to only 3-hits. Deisel Hammel was the losing pitcher and Valders winds up the Spring with a mark of 18-5. Meanwhile, the ‘Denmark’ Vikings were beaten by top-seeded West De Pere in their D’-2 Regional finale.
‘This afternoon Manitowoc Lincoln will host Fond du lac in a Division-1 Regional championship game at Municipal Field. The first pitch is set for 5:00 o’clock. Elsewhere, Sheboygan North is on the road to battle Slinger.
In Girls Fastpitch Softball undefeated Mishicot goes up against Iola-Scandinavia in the Sectional Finals at Crivitz. That D-4 matchup gets underway at 5:00.
In Local Amateur Baseball the Manitowoc Bandits cruised past the visiting Green Bay Storm 10-1 at Municipal Field last night. Winning pitcher Luke Mandich tossed a complete game with 12 strikeouts. Offensively, Mike Ruzek homered while Chris Casper went 4-6 and Shad Hintz added 3 hits to the cause. The Bandits are scheduled to host the Lakeshore Invitational this Sunday, starting at 11am.
