A cancer support group in Manitowoc is going to be honored this summer by the Milwaukee Brewers! Rob Roseff is the co-founder with his wife Denise of “Gumby’s Club Fore A Cure”, which is in its’ 9th year & has raised $200,000 dollars for affected families, locally. Roseff explained, saying that he “got a call last week from the Milwaukee Brewers stating that Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure was awarded the community achievement award.”
Rob, whose nickname is Gumby, told SeehaferNews.com that an old college roommate, Tom “Mel” Stanton, who does a fundraising event in the Cedarburg area, won the award previously and proceeded to nominate the area organization. Gumby and Mel bounce ideas back and forth off each other in order to make their benefits work smoother.
Roseff said he’ll receive the achievement award from the Brewers during an on field ceremony July 16th, prior to a game with the Braves. He told us that “the thriller for me is that I get to throw out the first pitch at the Brewers game that night.”
The Manitowoc native said Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure, “has given my cancer journey a real purpose.” Fundraising events include a 5-K Glow Run & Walk at Meadow Sports Complex on Friday, July 12th, followed two days later by a Bowling/Golf event. The two golf shifts are full but area residents can still sign up to bowl. For more information go to Gumby’s Facebook page by clicking here.
