The Tall Ship Windy is the final ship of nine to be announced for Nicolet Bank Tall Ships®. Sailing from Navy Pier in Chicago, Windy is a 148-foot, traditional four-masted gaff topsail schooner. She is built of modern materials, however, like old trading schooners and sail training ships, Windy has all the character and charm of the great Age of Sail.
She’s a traditional sailing ship and integrates modern amenities and safety items such as pressurized plumbing, bow thrusters for docking, and a 300 hp Cummins diesel engine. From the beginning, her mission was intended to bring Tall Ship sailing to the public, for enjoyment, personal and spiritual growth, and self-discovery.
Windy is the only ship that will offer a sail excursion from Sturgeon Bay to Green Bay before the festival on Thursday, July 25 at 8 a.m. Other ships will sail from Green Bay to Sturgeon Bay after the festival.
Windy will also offer many sail excursions while in Green Bay at Nicolet Bank Tall Ships® and will offer special pricing of $30 for children 12 and under on select excursions.
All tickets for Nicolet Bank Tall Ships®, including the Windy excursions, are available at Tallshipswisconsin.com.
PMI Entertainment Group and Nicolet National Bank are again collaborating to produce a major Tall Ships® festival in Wisconsin. The event will start with the festival in Green Bay July 26-28, followed by a sail through Sturgeon Bay July 29 and sail past Algoma on July 30.
