It is that time of year again, time for Police Officers around the state to crack down on wearing seatbelts, in the 10th Annual Click-It or Ticket campaign. According to LT. Jason Erickson of the Manitowoc Police Department, since the law requiring seatbelts took effect in June of 2009, Wisconsin’s seatbelt use rate has jumped from 74% in 2009, to 89% today. Numerous motorists have avoided serious injury or death thanks to their use of the safety belt. From May 20th through June 2nd, officers around the state will be out in droves to not only stop and cite motorists for not wearing their belt, but to also encourage those who choose not to wear it, to use the belt, and keep them safe. The goal of the program is to ensure that all motorists are safely buckled up, every seat, every trip.
