One of three defendants charged in the death of a two-year-old boy in Two Rivers last month has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and has been bound over for trial. 28-year-old David Heiden is charged with repeated physical abuse of a child causing death, repeated physical abuse of a child causing bodily harm, chronic neglect of a child, possession of marijuana as a party to a crime and possession of drug paraphernalia as a party to a crime. 27-year-old Rena Santiago and 25-year-old Bianca Bush also face multiple charges in the death of Gilbert Grant the Second. Officers responded April 26th to a Two Rivers apartment where the toddler was found not breathing, with no pulse and was cool to the touch. Court records show that Heiden allegedly violently shook the boy the day of his death. Rena Santiago, Gilbert’s mother, admitted that she along with Bush and Heiden (her roommates) repeatedly hit the toddler with their hands, a shoe and a belt over the last several months. All three remain in the County Jail in lieu of $100 thousand cash with Heiden due back in court for his arraignment on May 24th.
