The annual Manitowoc County Peace Officer Memorial Service will be observed this afternoon. Manitowoc Police Captain Matt Wallander said the local tribute begins today at 2:45. The Captain told us “We like to honor our Manitowoc County Officers, where all of our law enforcement agencies come together and pay respect to the officers who died while protecting their communities.”
Captain Wallander said the public is invited to join the Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, Two Rivers Police Department and Kiel Police Department as they pay tribute to the local, state and federal peace officers who have died, or who have been disabled in the line of duty. Today’s ceremony will take place between the Manitowoc County Courthouse and Manitowoc County Jail.
Seven law enforcement officers in Manitowoc County have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Leo Rocque – Two Rivers Police Department
Fred Mueller – Manitowoc Police Department
Thomas R. Dodge – Two Rivers Police Department
Lawrence H. Metsker – Manitowoc Police Department
David C. Hibbard – Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office
Dale TenHaken – Manitowoc Police Department
District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre will be keynote speaker City Police Chief Nick Reimer is the emcee.
