Exceptional bowling achievements, countywide, were recognized in Two Rivers Saturday night. The Manitowoc County Bowling Hall of Fame Enshrinement and Awards Banquet was held at the Lighthouse Inn. Five persons were inducted into the Hall of Fame, bringing the honor roll list to 1-hundred-31 since the program began in 1979. The 2019 enshrinees were: Greg Evenson, who was a regular competitor in the Wisconsin State Championships & the USBC Open Championships and has 15 300 games to his credit. Greg & his father, Ralph (also a member of the Hall of Fame) operated the Sportsman’s Club & Lanes in Collins. Joe DeGroot was a participant in the Wisconsin State Bowling Championships, had tournament titles in the Two Rivers Bowling Association, served as a league secretary for 30-years, and was a Junior Bowling Coach. Bryan Marshall was nominated for competing in area leagues for almost 40-years, during which he has rolled 6 800 series and 6 300 games. Two of those 300’s came on the same night! He too competed in numerous National & State championships. Ken Qualman has been bowling in leagues for 50 years, and while a solid bowler was honored mostly for his service as a league secretary for over 2 decades, for setting up a morning league at Meadow Lanes North and coached youth bowling. And, Dave Schmitz a native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, before relocating to the lakeshore has been involved in league bowling for more than 50-years. Among his highlights are over 100, 700 series, a multiple state & national competitor, association board member & league secretary, and member of many league championship teams. Three high school seniors received Gene Schrank Memorial Scholarships from the MCBA: Clara Dramm & Alicia Meyer both from Roncalli, and Emma Trowbridge of Valders.
