A county sales tax is back in discussion in the Lakeshore area, and if you have an opinion on the issue, you will have a chance to comment. Manitowoc County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer has again voiced his opposition to the idea with a news release.
Ziegelbauer says the county does not need the tax, and that there is no defined plan for how to use the money raised by it. He says it would take at least $5 million dollars per year out of the pockets of the people who earned it. He says the cities, towns, and villages are not requesting money but would take it if it is offered.
The public is invited to an input session on Monday night at 6:30 at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland.
