WOMT Radio and SeehfaerNews.com were recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association during the annual “Awards for Excellence” Banquet this past Saturday, in Madison.
The team at WOMT and SeehaferNews.com received 8 nominations in 23 news and social media categories for medium market radio and took home a 1st place honor for the best website in the state in SeehaferNews.com, while also winning a 1st place Award for “Best News Writing” for a story written and produced by Damon Ryan; that he called “1st Down for Trees”
WOMT news was also honored with a 2nd place Award “Best Hard News”; for coverage of the May 2018 flooding in Manitowoc County. Then a 3rd place Award for “Best Significant Community Impact” for the “In courage Donation Drive” over the holiday season.
Other awards included a 3rd place Award for the “Best Web Story” about a Manitowoc double homicide. A 2nd place Award for “Best Online Breaking News Coverage” during the Downtown Manitowoc Gas leak. A 1st place Award for “Best Use of Social Live Streaming” for coverage of the damage to the SS Badger dock. WOMT also received a 2nd place Award for the Facebook promotion called “Facebook Frenzy”.
The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association holds this annual Awards of Excellence event to honor outstanding achievements by Wisconsin Radio and TV Stations.
