North Carolina authorities are investigating an apparent scam attached to a charity golf tournament. Donors to the event had been promised they would play a round of golf with Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker of Madison. Stricker found out about the scam when one participant reached out, asking him why he failed to show up for a clinic. A golf pro told Stricker a man claiming to be his cousin had promised Stricker would be there. That’s the first the Wisconsin golfer had heard about it.
