Vehicle Driven into Lake Winnebago/No Driver or Occupants Found

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office & County Dive Team were notified late last night of a vehicle being driven into Lake Winnebago.  Lieutenant Eric Voland says a witness observed the vehicle enter the lake, from Faro Springs Road, just before 11pm. The unit was completely submerged in the water & arriving deputies began efforts to rescue any occupants.  Members of the Calumet County Dive team searched the vehicle and surrounding waters and did not locate any victims.  The case is still under investigation, however it’s believed the driver left the area prior to deputies’ arrival. Lieutenant Voland said the Stockbridge, Hilbert and Town of Calumet Fire Departments & Theda-Star also assisted with the extensive search efforts.
