The man convicted in the deadly shooting of a Milwaukee police officer was sentenced today (Thursday) to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Jonathan Copeland pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of M-P-D Officer Michale Michalski last summer. Michalski went to serve a felony drug warrant at Copeland’s home in July of 2018 when he was fatally shot. Prosecutors played Michalski’s body camera video at sentencing, which showed the moment he climbed the stairs and was ambushed by Copeland. Prosecutors said Copeland showed “zero remorse” for taking Michalski’s life.
