
It came on a close 4-3 vote, but the Wisconsin Supreme Court has restored 82 people who had been appointed to state positions by former Governor Scott Walker. His Democratic successor, Tony Evers, had argued the appointments were invalidated after the lame-duck session was ruled unconstitutional. The Tuesday order is considered to be a victory for Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature. They had said the appointees were legally confirmed and they should be able to keep their jobs.
