Earlier this month a man who grew up in Manitowoc, Scott Allen, spoke at an event with Governor Tony Evers to create more awareness about autism and to encourage employers to hire those with autism as dedicated workers who can fill the job openings they are seeking to fill with dependable employees. Allen, a graduate of Roncalli High School in Manitowoc, was the founder of the local friendship group run by the Autism Society of the Lakeshore and has gone on to advocate for those on the Autism Spectrum at the local, state and national levels. He currently works for Westside Psychotherapy in Madison counseling adults on the autism spectrum.
