Cruise Line Rewards 30 Teachers With a Seven-Day Cruise For Two and Top Three Grand Prize Winners’ Schools With Cash Prizes
Norwegian Cruise Line, announced the final list of winners resulting from their Giving Joy campaign. From March 12 to April 12, Norwegian Cruise Line received nominations and votes from all around the world to recognize and reward educators in the U.S. and Canada.
Throughout the course of a month, Giving Joy campaign generated over 2 million votes and 12,000 nominations. Among these nominations, 30 winners were chosen for their inspiring stories and outstanding work they’ve done in their classrooms to celebrate and educate students on the joy of travel and education. The winners are rewarded with a seven-day cruise for two and accommodations and airfare to attend the award ceremony taking place in Seattle on May 3, 2019, where three grand prize winners will win $10,000, $15,000 or $25,000 towards their respective schools.
Lindsey Ward of Northland Pines-Eagle River Elementary School was the only teacher from Wisconsin in the pool of 30 winners from across the country. Michelle Favorite, the mother of one of Ward’s students, nominated the teacher. She stated she nominated Ward because she “is an amazing teacher,” and “… so good at what she does.” Ward’s fiancé Klint Mitchell was one of the victims in the Spirit Helicopter crash last April, their 3rd child was born just one week after the carash. After a challenging year for the teacher, Favorite wanted the nomination to add something positive to her life.
