The Milwaukee Brewers just signed Gio Gonzalez to help with the struggling pitching staff, but the statistics suggest the team’s troubles go deeper than that. The Brewers have dropped 12-of-18 games after that hot seven-and-one start and they’re riding a four-game losing streak. It may come back to the hitters. Eight Brewers have at least 80 plate appearances and only three have been league average or better. Travis Shaw and Jesus Aguilar are in a group of five which has performed at a rate 25 percent below league average.
