The March unemployment rose slightly in Manitowoc but declined a bit in Manitowoc County. Numbers released by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development shows the city’s jobless rate is three-and-a-half percent. That’s up two-tenths a percent from February’s figure of three-point-three percent but down significantly from last March’s number of four-point-one percent. Manitowoc County’s March unemployment rate is three-point-four percent-down from three-and-a-half percent in February and a six-tenths-of-a percent decline from four percent in March of 2018. Preliminary March 2019 Non-seasonally adjusted data shows unemployment rates declined over the year in 32 of the 33 state’s largest cities with Manitowoc recording the largest decrease of point-six percent and declining or remaining unchanged in 62 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties.
