Ashwaubenon based Shopko will be auctioning off their optical business, a move which could end up saving as many as 700 jobs. On top of saving jobs, the customers that utilize the service would not be required to go to a new provider. Reports indicate that there are several potential bidders, so Shopko decided that an auction would be the only way to “realize the full value of the optical business.” This auction is the latest step toward the liquidation of the business, after the pharmacy was sold earlier this year. All Shopko locations will be closed in June.
