The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, on a unanimous vote this afternoon, authorized the construction of the Two Creeks solar generation facility. In addition, the commission also approved the acquisition of the entire Two Creeks project- along with 150 Megawatts of the 300-megawatt Badger Hollow Facility in Iowa County by Madison Gas & Electric Company and The Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. The Two Creeks solar generation facility will be located near Two Rivers. The two facilities will produce enough renewable energy to be equivalent to what 120 thousand Wisconsin households use in a typical year. PSC Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq stated in a news release “These projects are an important first step in decreasing the carbon footprint of Wisconsin’s energy production. Wisconsin is ready to embrace a clean energy economy thanks to declining costs of renewable infrastructure and utilities responding to customer demands for clean energy options.” Nothing was released on when construction would begin or a completion target date.
