An Appleton resident is reeling after an early morning house fire yesterday destroyed their house and killed their cat. Fire crews arrived at the home located in the 800 block of West Fourth Street at around 12:25 AM to find smoke and flames billowing from side windows on the first floor of the home. Crews attempted to battle the inferno, but said it was difficult due to the “accumulated amount of contents throughout the residence.” The lone human resident was able to escape, alone with a dog, but the feline was found dead during a sweep of the home. The fire department is not yet certain of what caused the fire, nor do they have a damage estimate at this time.
