The suspect in a Beloit homicide case has been taken into custody in south Texas. Thirty-eight-year-old Jacob M. Davenport is being held in the La Salle County Jail after his Saturday arrest. Beloit police think he shot 28-year-old James Tomten to death two months ago. Tomten’s body was found in his S-U-V in Beloit. Investigators are recommending a charge of first-degree intentional homicide be filed against Davenport when he is returned to Wisconsin.
