Three motorcyclists were injured as the result of a crash yesterday in Gibson. Wisconsin State Patrol says several local and area law enforcement and EMS agencies responded to the scene at 3:15 p.m. on Highway R at Old Y Road. A preliminary investigation indicates that a motorcycle driven by a 58-year-old Luxemburg man began to slow down when a second bike driven by a 67-year-old Kewaunee man struck the first unit causing both drivers to lose control and all three individuals to be ejected onto the roadway.
The Kewaunee man along with a 48-year-old female passenger also from Kewaunee was transported to Aurora BayCare in Bellevue with “life-threatening” injuries while the 58-year-old Luxemburg male was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay with “serious” injuries. None of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets.
Heavy rain and alcohol are possible contributing factors to the crash. Names involved are being withheld pending notification of family. Assisting agencies on scene included the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department—Manitowoc Fire and Ambulance—Maribel Fire and First Responders—Mishicot Ambulance—Francis Creek Fire and Brown County Rescue.
