A former movie theatre complex in Manitowoc’s northside downtown area is only weeks away from opening as “Strand Adventures.” Mike Howe, one of the four investors in the renovation project, gave SeehaferNews.com an update late last week. He said “We are probably at the 75% complete section. All of my vendors are starting to show up and putting in equipment.”
Howe spoke on the uniqueness of Strand Adventures, when compared to the region, saying the number of places like this are few and far between, and “what we’re doing, especially with all the different activities we have, there is a lot to offer here.”
There’s an Adventureland with a 21-foot slide under construction in part of the 25,000 square foot building and a birthday party room features a large mural painted by local artist Chad Beeman. Howe explained that the mural was put in to “feel like you’re sitting on a beach.”
In regards to their scheduled opening, Mike told us that he “has to be open by May 1ST” because they have a party planned for the 4th, along with 5 other parties. The local builder said he has many local vendors involved in this months long renovation Including the Carron Net Company, Check Electric, Maritime Plumbing, Braun Building Center and Kaeden Floor Services.
