Governor Tony Evers is rescinding 82 appointees who were approved by ex-Governor Scott Walker during the December lame-duck session. A spokeswoman for Evers said those seats are now considered vacant and the governor is committed to filling them as soon as possible. Some of the positions are a University of Wisconsin System regent and a commissioner of the state Public Service Commission. G-O-P lawmakers are asking the appeals court to reverse a judge’s ruling that stops enforcement of a series of laws which limit the powers of the governor and attorney general. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Richard Niess blocked the series of laws passed by Republicans in the lame-duck session.
