Dane County Judge Promises Ruling Over Lame Duck Laws, But Doesn’t Say When

Dane County Circuit Judge Richard Niess has promised a decision on the law passed during the Legislature’s lame-duck session, but he hasn’t said when.  Niess heard two hours of oral arguments Monday.  Liberal groups argue lawmakers convened illegally in December — and violated the Wisconsin Constitution.  The attorney for the Legislature warning a ruling the lame-duck session was illegal would be a violation of the separation of powers and would negate dozens of laws.
