Bail Hearing For Motorist With 5th OWI Offense

A 34-year-old Manitowoc man is free on $250 cash bail after being taken into custody on a 5^th OWI Offense. Police were sent to an accident in the 2100 block of South 21^st Street just before 11 p.m. Friday night and questioned Charles C. Redeker on what had happened. He told them that he lost control while texting and driving and admitted to being at Timeout earlier in the evening, but denied consuming alcohol. Officers smelled booze on his breath and Redeker was slurring his words. A field sobriety test was administered which indicated Redeker was legally drunk with a blood draw at Holy Family Memorial confirming it. Conditions of bail are that Redeker not enter or be present at any tavern—not operate a motor vehicle and maintain absolute sobriety. His initial appearance is scheduled for March 25^th at 9:30.
