A Manitowoc man was arrested by city police Wednesday in connection with a drug-related death at a northside apartment last month. 52-year old Jon VanDeurzen is charged with one count delivery of methamphetamine, a felony, and was transported to the Manitowoc County Jail where he was also being held on a probation hold. The deceased male, identified as 60-year old Andrew Brown, was found February 10th in an apartment in the 500-block of North 10th Street. Brown and Van Duerzen reportedly did two hits of meth each, prior to the victim being found dead. Police said results received Tuesday from an autopsy conducted the day after the death at the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s office showed meth was in the victim’s system, but the drug was not a direct cause of death. Instead, it was described as a contributing factor. VanDeurzen appeared for a bail hearing before Court Commissioner Charles Wingrove yesterday afternoon and bail was set at 4-thousand dollars cash. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, March 25th at 1:30.
