Two semi-trailer trucks collided shortly after 8:30 this morning in Calumet County at the intersection of U.S Highway 10 & County ‘D’. The mishap west of Forest Junction resulted in two persons being taken to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center by Gold Cross Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. Calumet County Chief Deputy Brett Bowe says a southbound semi-tractor unit had failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and was struck by a westbound semi. As a result of that crash, traffic became backed-up to the west of the intersection, where an eastbound car then rear-ended a second auto, which in turn, was pushed into an S-U-V. A 3rd individual from the initial mishap was ‘not’ transported….and all 3 people from the second crash were released at the scene. Traffic at the accident site was blocked in both directions until early this afternoon and motorists had to take a detour route. Agencies assisting the sheriff’s department included the Wisconsin State Patrol, Calumet County Highway Department, Hilbert/Potter First Responders, and the Hollandtown & Harrison Fire Departments.
