Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers is proposing two-and-a-half-billion dollars in state building projects in his 2019-2021 capital budget. State agencies submitted about three-point-four-billion in requests for maintenance and infrastructure projects. Nearly half of the funding would be used for upgrades and renovations at University of Wisconsin System facilities. There’s also 115-million dollars to revamp juvenile correctional facilities and build up to three new juvenile detention centers. Around two-billion of Evers request would come state-funded borrowing. The State Building Commission meets March 20th to vote on the governor’s capital budget recommendations.
