
ACT TWO, the $2.8 million dollar renovation of Manitowoc’s downtown iconic Capitol Civic Centre- Is well underway. Seehafer News recently took a tour with Executive Director-Matt Schliesman.
The Capitol, which opened in 1921 is undergoing a 2 phase upgrade to make it “user-friendly, comfortable and relevant for the decades to come.” Schliesman explains they’re not doing cosmetic changes, but rather focusing on some areas of need.
The C-C-C director also spoke of some major patron-friendly changes off the newly created 2nd-floor lobby.
Schliesman also said they will be able to move people in wheelchairs up to the mezzanine level, via the newly installed elevator. Phase-1 of the project is expected to be completed next month. The Capitol director tells us the current seats will be replaced this summer, while the theatre is closed for 2 and a half months.
In order to install more comfortable seating, Schliesman said the theatre’s capacity will go from 1,153, down to 1,003 seats. Donations are still being accepted for- ACT TWO by calling 686-6420 or by going to matt@cccshows.org.
